Here at 'The Joshua Tree' we have a good grounding in the fields of antique restoration and conservation. There are significant differences between the two areas, each requiring different skills and techniques.
If for example customers may bring old dining tables, chairs, chests etc and they request that they be re polished or need new pieces making for them ie legs etc, we would treat this as a restoration piece. On the other hand, if we receive a call from a museum in the care of a piece of furniture this, more often than not will require conservation techniques - we will conserve what is there, conserving the old surfaces etc. These pieces will not look like new, but will be stable and able to survive for future generations to enjoy.
